Martial Arts Guide

Style: Tiger Claw

Description: Fu Jow, or Tiger Claw, was originally called the Black Tiger system (Hark Fu Moon), and was renamed as Fu Jow by Wong Bil Hong in memory of his master, an unnamed monk who lived at the Hoy Hong temple in Guangdong.

Prior to learning the Black Tiger system, Wong was a Hung Gar master and disciple of Wong Kay Yin and Wong Fei Hung. The monk was said to be a refugee from another part of China, having fled to the south during the political unrest of the late Qing dynasty. Wong Bil Hong taught the system to his nephew Wong Moon Toy. He studied it for seven years in Low Faw mountain outside of Guangdong and later brought it to the United States.
